Mary Jo Kurtz is a certified empowerment and wellness coach, holistic health counselor, writer, and professional speaker.
Mary Jo, a C.P.A. and graduate of Villanova University, spent a 15 year career in corporate financial services. However, her life made a dramatic shift when she was unexpectedly struck with a debilitating illness 16 years ago. After years of self-healing and education, Mary Jo began a new chapter in her life. She became a certified empowerment coach and a holistic health counselor through the Institute of Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), the Institute for Integrative Nutrition and Columbia University and is accredited through the American Association of Drugless Practitioners. Based on her own wellness journey and years of working with others seeking a proactive approach to better health, Mary Jo developed her Guiding Principles to Health. These soon became the foundation for Wellnecessity. Her philosophy embraces the Necessities of Wellness: to Eat Well, Live Well, and Play Well. Now through her personal coaching and health counseling services her clients reap the benefits of better health, optimal performance, greater life balance, lifestyle and behavioral changes and overall greater fulfillment in their lives.
Mary Jo’s corporate roles within Human Resources and Finance coupled with her personal experiences make her a perfect fit for her corporate focus today. Mary Jo works with corporations who understand the vital role that the Wellness Industry will play in their financial success while faced with the current healthcare crisis of today. Mary Jo provides employee coaching and development and wellness programs aimed at improving employee health, performance and the bottom-line. She is also a trained administrator and coach of the Genos® Emotional Intelligence (EI) Assessment.

Mary Jo also has a dynamic personal side. She and her husband Jeff have 4 children and are dedicated to supporting and empowering children and young adults. Mary Jo is the creator and facilitator of the award winning Girl’s University program designed for children to enhance self-esteem through self-discovery and empowerment. When not working or taking care of her and her family, Mary Jo can be found either on a ball field or in a gym coaching youth sports and/or supporting her own 4 competitive athletes. She also works with parents and children on improving their health and nutrition for optimal performance in sports, the classroom and at home.
Mary Jo is a member of several organizations, including the American Association of Drugless Practitioners, International Coach Federation, NJ Professional Coaches Association, National Association of Female Executives, National Association of Professional Women, International Speakers Association and 180 Turning Lives Around.
